How a Nurse Tank Can Help Increase Your Spraying Flexibility

With large spray equipment, handling can be an issue. Dramm manufactures 100 and200 gallon Hydra sprayers for larger applications. Unfortunately, 200 gallons of water alone is 1,600 pounds. Maneuvering more than this gets difficult. Sometimes, however, more solution is needed. Most of the time, growers return to the chemical room to refill the sprayer and mix a new batch of solution to continue spraying. A nurse tank can help increase your spraying flexibility.

By adding a smaller, secondary tank to a sprayer, growers can have the ability to select this tank as the input for spot treatments or select to transfer the solution from this tank to the larger, main tank. Filling this smaller tank with the amount of chemical needed to fill the larger tank, along with enough water to make it soluble, can eliminate the trip back to the head house during an application.

Dramm offers a 20 gallon nurse tank option on our 200 gallon sprayer. This can be used to provide an extra 20 gallons of spray that can be selected for specific spot treatments. It can also be use to refill the 200 gallon tank with a concentrated spray solution that only needs water in the field. This effectively increases the capacity of the unit to 400 gallons without having to remix or move that much solution at one time.
